There’s an old saying that no press is bad press and whether you believe it or not is up to you, but today we at True North Property Management truly want to shout out some good news. Rent Responsibly, a community-building and education platform designed to help bring tenants and owners closer together has featured our company in an article that makes us feel even better about how we dealt with the troubles that hit the world. It is no secret that the vacation rental market has undergone a major upheaval over the last few years we tried to take a horrible time and put a positive spin on it, resulting in an experience that was far less horrible than others were dealing with at the time!
Ensuring our Employees Stayed Employed
The economy suffered along with the individuals and we knew that our responsibility to the country began at home and as such, we looked for ways to keep our employees employed. Converting jobs to at-home positions, and helping the homeowners that trusted us with their biggest investment enjoy better access to their homes with an updated and more intensive automation system actually created more work for our employees while giving the economy the boost it needed. It is hard to shop online or in person if people aren’t making money and this was just one way we managed to do our part!
Using the Down Time Sensibly
In the vacation rental business homes and condos are very well used and repairs and updates are often an inconvenient necessity. But since travel wasn’t happening and the properties weren’t being used, we convinced homeowners that this was the perfect time to update their investment! Additionally, our new automation system included checklists of all the properties, noting what repairs may be needed, what updates could be done to make them ready for when the doors to the world opened up again, and just listing what maintenance should be done. This helped keep the homeowners busy during a confusing time and as we stated earlier, helped keep our employees employed creating a win-win situation in a not-so-happy time!
The Accolades are Wonderful
It is always a wonderful thing to be acknowledged for the good things you do and we are so appreciative of this article posted by Rent Responsibility, but at the end of the day, it is our homeowners who continued to put their faith in us during the most trying of times that made all this hard work worthwhile! And as we move forward, leaving the darker days behind we will continue to create excellent relationships with our employees and our homeowners and remember gratefully the gratitude we received when opening our homes for travelers who were stuck in the area, unable to return home but also unable to stay in the hotels they rented (another innovative idea we had and enjoyed implementing!) It’s never a bad day if you learn something new and we were inundated with new educational opportunities during the pandemic, with some of those things still being utilized today in the vacation rental business.
