Traverse City understands this and offers various different markets and all throughout the year. This will ensure you have access to local goods that will make for perfect ingredients for a meal or for a gift back home. The first market on our list is the Sara Hardy Farmers Market. This is a local favorite and started back in 1984 as a grassroots market that features less than 10 vendors. It has since grown in popularity and size to become one of the top markets in the entire state of Michigan.

Downtown Traverse City, Michigan Farmer's Market

The market currently serves over 115 different local farmers and is planning on increasing the space to allow even more in. The market is held in Downtown Traverse City at Parking Lot B just across the street from Clinch Park. The Sara Hardy Downtown Farmers Market provides a space for local farmers, growers, jewelers, artisans, and more to set up their individual booths. The produced is locally sourced and always fresh. You can find unique gifts to take back home including jewelry, artwork, craft soap, soap making kits, and much more. There is even plenty for the children to shop around at too. The market is held outside with the exception of during the National Cherry Festival where it is moved inside temporarily.
