The 2025 Bayshore Marathon takes place on Saturday, May 24th, keeping with its Memorial Day Weekend tradition. Hosted by the Traverse City Track Club, the event continues to grow thanks to strong word-of-mouth. This year, all races sold out, with over 2,000 runners in the 10K, 3,400 in the Half Marathon, and another 2,000 in the Full. Additional info: Bayshore Marathon
The marathon offers a flat, out-and-back course that runs along the scenic shores of Grand Traverse Bay. Runners are treated to views of the crystal blue waters of Lake Michigan on one side and Traverse City’s renowned cherry orchards on the other. The course begins on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College, with the final quarter-mile taking place inside the stadium track. The Half Marathon starts on Devils Dive Road, featuring an initial 225-foot climb before merging with the marathon course. The 10K is a flat and fast route, sharing the end of the Half Marathon course.Bayshore Marathon
Traveling to the Bayshore Marathon
Traverse City is a popular destination, especially during Memorial Day Weekend. Here are some travel tips:
- Transportation: If you’re flying in, Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) is the closest airport. Consider renting a car for convenience, as public transportation options may be limited.
- Parking: Parking is available at Northwestern Michigan College and Traverse City Central High School. However, these lots fill up quickly, so arrive early. Note that some lots have restricted exit times due to the race course.
- Shuttles: For Half Marathon participants, shuttle buses will transport runners from Traverse City Central High School to the start line on Devils Dive Road. Ensure you arrive early to catch the shuttle, as there is no drop-off allowed at the start line without a parking pass.
