Christian Gissing built True North from a conviction most operators have never articulated: that a well-run hospitality asset should compound in value the way a well-run investment portfolio does.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Christian came to hospitality through an unusual path — not through hotel school or real estate apprenticeship, but through the discipline of performance marketing and a previous company exit. He understands systems, conversion, optimization, and scale in ways that most operators simply do not. He founded True North in Traverse City, Michigan in 2014 with a single operating premise: run every property as if you own it. That premise has since compounded into a global platform spanning seven countries, multiple asset classes, and a growing portfolio of owners who trust True North with their most significant assets. He combines an athlete’s intolerance for mediocre results with a CEO’s understanding of enterprise value — and a genuine, unhurried commitment to the people on his team and the guests who walk through every property in the portfolio. His belief, stated plainly: the hospitality industry is full of operators. The market is short of partners who think in decades, not occupancy seasons.
