Outrider Horseback Riding

Outrider offers private western-style rides through fields and woodland in the region near Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Confirm the meeting location and the ride suited to your party directly with the operator. Being near the national lakeshore does not mean the ride takes place inside the park.

CJ’s Stable

CJ’s Stable takes ride reservations in advance. Read its current service descriptions and policies before choosing a ride. Ask about the ages and experience levels in your group, the terrain and the time spent in the saddle.

Ranch Rudolf

Ranch Rudolf, southeast of Traverse City along the Boardman River, also offers trail riding. Check its current recreation schedule and booking arrangements for your dates. This is a different outing from a horse-show visit in Williamsburg, so use the actual operator address when planning your base.

Riding or watching? Plan for the right experience

Traverse City Horse Shows at Flintfields Horse Park is an equestrian competition venue in Williamsburg. It does not offer public horseback rides. If you want to watch the competition, use the official visitor page for the current schedule, admission arrangements and event information.

For a spectator trip, consider East Bay, Acme or Williamsburg accommodation. For a trail ride farther west or south, compare the drive to your booked meeting point instead of assuming every “Traverse City” activity is close to every rental.

What to ask before booking a ride

• Which ride fits each person’s age, height, weight, experience and comfort around horses?
• What are the current footwear, helmet and clothing requirements, and what does the operator supply?
• How much of the scheduled session is riding, and what kind of terrain is involved?
• What happens if weather changes the plan, or someone cannot participate?
• Where do you meet, and how early should you arrive?

Eligibility varies by operator and specific ride. Share the ages and riding experience of everyone in your group, and obtain confirmation before making travel plans around the experience.

Can I book a rental for a group attending the horse shows?

Compare the exact location, bedroom layout and guest limit of each stay. If you need several units, enter your dates in the rental search and add eligible, priced stays to your cart. Each reservation still needs its own checkout confirmation.
