Build your day around one area

Downtown and the waterfront

Start with Front Street for a stroll through town, then head toward the bay. Clinch Park combines a public beach, marina setting and access to the TART Trail. Choose the parts of the waterfront that suit the weather and season; summer amenities are not a year-round promise.

This is an easy day to leave relatively unstructured. Pick a place for lunch, allow time to browse, and save a longer drive for another morning.

The Village at Grand Traverse Commons

Explore the historic buildings and present-day shops and dining at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. If the history is the main attraction, compare the official guided tours before visiting. Routes and access differ; some tours involve stairs and age restrictions.

Old Mission Peninsula

Give the peninsula its own outing, with the drive and the shoreline as part of the experience. Mission Point Lighthouse stands at the northern end of the peninsula. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
