A Traverse City vacation getaway isn’t just fun for the adults, but the whole family. This includes any young children traveling with you who are too young or little to enjoy activities for older children. If you have a young child, make sure to take them to the Great Lakes Children’s Museum. This museum is a local attraction that uses hands-on and interactive exhibits to encourage your child to explore and enjoy the wonders of the world. The Great Lakes Children’s Museum has been serving this mission since 1998. Here is what you and your children will discover at the Great Lakes Children’s Museum:
Youngest Child Exhibits
The Great Lakes Children’s Museum offers exhibits that are specifically designed for children ages 1 to 3. These exhibits are created to help sharpen any fine and gross motor skills. Exhibits for the youngest children are tucked inside a safety enclosure so parents can relax and join in on the fun as their children explore their surroundings safely. These exhibits include The Hatchery, Water Cycle, Skill Builder Stations, and more.
Oldest Child Exhibits
The Great Lakes Children’s Museum also offers exhibits that are designed for older children ages 5 to 8. This allows school-age children to join in on the interactive fun during your visit. They will learn about physics and sailing in the Let’s Go Sailing exhibit as they experiment with toy sailboats. The Lilliputian Puppet Theater allows children to join in on rotating “theater productions” with exciting songs and interactive play. Additional exhibits also include Guardians of the Great Lakes, Building Bridges, and more.
All Children Exhibits
Last but not least are the all-ages exhibits that encompass activities for children ages 1 through 8. Children can enjoy the exciting Great Lakes Activity Room or explore the Life Cycle of a Cherry. All activities will help your children learn about the wonders of the world while interacting with other children in a safe setting.
