And with plenty of lakes comes with plenty of sandy beaches for you to relax on. Head off to the beach so you can breathe in the smell of freshwater and relax under the sunny sky. The kids can enjoy building a sandcastle or dip their toes in the water. There are miles of sandy beaches for you to nestle up on to relax. Another great way to enjoy Lake Michigan is by exploring it by water too. Local shops will offer rentals such as kayaks and canoes to explore the shoreline with. Aerial shows will also be held along with live musical performances from some of the biggest artists. The National Cherry Festival takes place every July is a worthy time to come and see Traverse City for the first time.
